Pet Grooming
Apple Tree Cove Animal Hospital offers full-service grooming, and a typical visit includes: bathing, conditioning, and blow drying; brushing and combing the coat; checking for parasites; trimming longhaired pets if needed; nail trimming; ear cleaning and hair-plucking the ear canals; and, if necessary, expressing the anal glands.
Every breed of dog and cat is different, so the grooming for each pet is unique. We can recommend a grooming routine for your pet so you know exactly what to look for and how often.
If you have a young puppy or kitten, acquaint it with grooming early to insure an easy process from the start!
Please bring a printed and filled out copy of our grooming form with you to your next grooming appointment or complete it online.

Shed-Out - A service that once you start it you will love it! What hair we remove here means much less hair in your home. We are sure you will like having about 2 gallons less hair all over your home. Let us explain the hair cycle on your pet. The shorter the hair the faster it dies which means the pet sheds more. Sometimes these little “wash n wear” dogs that look like they don’t have much hair are some of the worst shedders.

Hair has 3 stages of life: good guard hair, dying hair, and dead hair. What we do at Apple Tree Cove Animal Hospital is remove the dead hair and remove the dying hair! In about one week or so you will see more shedding; this is the previous dying hair which was not shedding during the first treatment. No matter what anyone may tell you, you will never have a shed free dog. What you can have is a “maintained shedding” program which will dramatically minimize the hair in your home.
There are many factors that make shedding a horror. Some factors include: nervousness, skin problems, amount of light, anesthesia, allergies, etc. When shedding seems to be a chronic problem the doctor determines the cause and suggests the best treatment. With unexplained hair loss, consulting with one of our doctors is always a wise decision.
All grooming and bathing services include a nail trim, anal gland expression, and ear cleaning and hair removal.
